Your ranking is driven by your reviews. After every job, send your clients your Tradee profile link and ask them to rate you. The more genuine reviews you collect β and the higher they are β the higher you appear in search and rankings, and the more new clients you win. How does Tradee work for me?
You create a free listing for your business. Clients in your area find you by trade and location, see your ratings and reviews, and contact you directly by call, WhatsApp or email. Tradee takes no commission and is not a middleman β the job is between you and your client.
How do reviews work?
After you've done a job, your client opens your profile and rates you on five things β quality, service, cleanliness, communication and value. Those combine into your overall star rating shown on your profile and listing. More positive reviews lift your average; that average is what clients look at first.
How do I get better rankings?
Three things, in order of impact:
1. Collect reviews. The Rankings page and search are driven by your average rating and how many reviews you have. After every job, send clients your profile link and ask them to review you β this is the single biggest lever. 2. Complete your profile. Add a photo, a clear description, your rates, portfolio photos and credentials. Full profiles get far more clicks. 3. Upgrade to Verified or Premium. Paid members are featured at the top of the directory with a highlighted card.
How do I send my listing to clients for a review?
Open your listing (or your dashboard) and tap βShareβ / βCopy Linkβ. Paste that link into a WhatsApp or SMS to your client right after the job β e.g. βThanks for the work today! If you were happy, I'd really appreciate a quick review here: [your link]β. The easier you make it, the more reviews you'll get.
What's the difference between Free, Verified and Premium?
Free (Standard): a full listing, client reviews and a public profile β free forever. Verified: a green Verified badge β you upload your identity and credential documents, we review them, and the badge is added to your profile β plus featured placement above free listings. Premium: top featured placement with a highlighted amber card for maximum visibility.

How do I get the Verified badge?
Upload your ID and your trade/credential documents from your dashboard (these stay private β only the Tradee team can see them). Our team reviews them, and once approved we add the green Verified badge to your profile. It signals to clients that you've proven who you are β which builds trust and wins more work. Uploading documents is optional, but the badge only appears once they've been reviewed.
Can I reply to reviews?
Yes. From your dashboard you can reply to any review. A polite, professional reply β even to a critical review β builds trust with future clients reading your profile.
How do clients contact me?
Directly β your call, WhatsApp and email buttons are on your profile. Enquiries come straight to you with no commission and no middleman.
Is it really free to list?
Yes. A Standard listing is free forever. Verified and Premium are optional paid upgrades for more visibility and the trust badge.
How tradesmen are ranked β and why you can trust it
Rankings on Tradee are earned, not bought. The Rankings page is based purely on genuine client reviews β a tradesman's average star rating first, then how many reviews they have β never on who paid the most. Every rating comes from a real client who used that tradesman, so a high ranking reflects real, consistent work. Verified and Premium members may appear featured at the top of the directory, but you can always see each tradesman's true rating and read their reviews to decide for yourself.
What is Tradee?
Tradee is a directory of trusted local tradesmen β electricians, plumbers, builders and more. You can browse, compare ratings and reviews, and contact tradesmen directly. It's completely free to use.
How do I find the right tradesman?
Search by trade and area, or use Smart Search (just describe what you need), the map, or βNear Meβ. Compare each tradesman's star rating, reviews, rates and portfolio before you contact them.
How do reviews work?
Reviews come from real clients who've used a tradesman. They rate five things β quality, service, cleanliness, communication and value β and those combine into the star rating you see. The more reviews a tradesman has, the more reliable that rating is.
How do I leave a review?
Open the tradesman's profile and tap βLeave a Reviewβ, rate the five categories and submit. Honest reviews help other homeowners choose well β and help good tradesmen get the recognition they deserve.
What does the green Verified badge mean?
The Verified badge means the tradesman has submitted identity and credential documents, which Tradee has reviewed before granting the badge β so they've taken the step of proving who they are. It is an added layer of trust, not a guarantee of their workmanship, licensing status or insurance. Please still confirm their credentials, references and that they're right for your job before any work begins.
How are tradesmen ranked?
The Rankings page is based purely on genuine client reviews β average rating first, then number of reviews β never paid placement. In the main directory, Verified and Premium members are featured at the top, but you can always see every tradesman's real rating and reviews to judge for yourself.
Does Tradee vet or guarantee tradesmen?
Tradee is a directory that helps you find and compare tradesmen. We show credentials and a Verified badge where documents have been checked, but we don't employ or guarantee any tradesman. Please verify credentials, insurance and references yourself before engaging anyone β Tradee isn't liable for work arranged through the platform.
Is it free, and how do I make contact?
Tradee is free for clients. Contact tradesmen directly using the call, WhatsApp or email buttons on their profile β no booking fees, no middleman.
Tradee ("we", "us") operates the tradee.org online directory. For privacy questions or requests, contact our Information Officer at support@tradee.org.
2. What we collect
Depending on how you use Tradee, we collect: account details (name, email, password); for tradesmen β business details, contact details, location, photos, and identity/credential documents you upload; for reviewers β your name and review; and usage/analytics data (pages viewed, listing interactions, and device/approximate location and IP processed by our hosting and analytics providers).
3. Why we process it
To provide the service and your listing (performance of a contract), with your consent (for example publishing your listing or uploading documents), and for our legitimate interests in running and improving a safe, trusted directory. Reviews are published as part of the service.
4. Identity & credential documents
Documents you upload for verification are stored privately and are visible only to you and Tradee's review team. We use them solely to review your Verified badge β we do not publish them.
5. Who we share with
Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Resend (email) and Vercel (hosting & analytics). Your public listing information β the details you choose to publish β is visible to anyone using the directory.
6. Where it's stored
Our providers host data outside South Africa (including in the United States). They are bound by data-processing terms providing an adequate level of protection, as permitted under section 72 of POPIA.
7. How we protect it
We use access controls, encryption of secrets, private storage for sensitive documents, and database row-level security. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
8. How long we keep it
While your account or listing is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, or as required by law. You can ask us to delete your data.
9. Your rights
Under POPIA you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Contact support@tradee.org.
10. Cookies & analytics
We use privacy-friendly analytics to measure traffic; it does not use advertising cookies.
11. Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page.
By using Tradee or listing a business, you agree to these Terms.
2. What Tradee is
Tradee is an online directory that helps people find and compare tradesmen. We are not a party to any agreement, booking, payment or work arranged between users and tradesmen, take no commission on such work, and do not employ, supervise or control any tradesman.
3. No guarantee β your responsibility
We do not guarantee the quality, workmanship, licensing, insurance, conduct or availability of any tradesman. You are responsible for verifying a tradesman's credentials, insurance and references and for any agreement you enter into. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tradee is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or dispute arising from dealings between users and tradesmen.
4. The Verified badge
The Verified badge means a tradesman submitted identity and credential documents which we reviewed before granting it. It is not a guarantee of their work, licensing or insurance.
5. Tradesman obligations
You confirm your information is true and that you hold any licences, registrations and insurance required for your trade. You may not post false, misleading or unlawful content.
6. Reviews
Reviews must be genuine and based on real experiences. We may remove reviews that are fraudulent, abusive or unlawful.
7. Payments
Paid plans, where available, are billed as described at sign-up. Detailed payment, renewal and refund terms will be provided when paid plans launch.
8. Termination
We may suspend or remove listings that breach these Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa.
